So, our daughter was 19 and wanted to get married. We had planned that we would have a few more years to tactfully infuse our marrige wisdom into her, Since we couldn't do that, we came up with a different strategy. We asked 10 of our friends who had been married for a long time (like 25-50 years) what lessons they could give us to pass on to our daughter. In addition to our own contributions, we learned something about marriage from all of them, too. Only one firend objected to being called old! By the way, the daughter and son-in-law were married in 2000, the marriage is stil strong, so our strategy must have worked!
